Maura has been a land use and environmental lawyer for New England companies for more than a decade. She has worked on development projects and land sales, managing consultant relationships and overseeing compliance and due diligence. She joined Boreal in 2010 to manage government contracts, environmental due diligence, and federal, state, and local permitting, with a focus on federal and GSA schedule projects. Maura also plays a critical role in analyzing and negotiating renewable energy project development documents, including equipment purchase agreements, construction and maintenance contracts, and warranty agreements.
She is adept at coordinating complex transactions and regulatory approval matters for corporate and institutional clients in the U.S. and abroad. Advising a major university, she counseled on the purchase of a former Army Materials Technology Lab in Watertown, MA. The work included reviewing environmental site assessments with negotiations involving the MA Department of Environmental Protection, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and EPA.
At Boston law firms Bingham McCutchen and Goulston & Storrs, Maura worked with a range of clients, including several lenders participating in nationwide cogeneration projects and a buyer of electric utility assets in Massachusetts. She reviewed and analyzed the operational permits and quantified specific environmental compliance costs.
Maura holds a LEED Green Associate accreditation in support of her efforts to promote and facilitate green project design, construction and operations.
